A regular Iranian client purchased several items of reducing sllip on (SO) flanges in one order. Take this as an example,”Flange Reducing 10 x 8 in, SO ASME B16.5 150 LB RF (125-250 AARH) FRGD ASTM A 105″. The drawings we provide to client during production are as follow:

The client had a question at that time and said the “reducer” could not be seen from the drawing. This question may not only be asked by my client, but also by others why there are not two sizes of bore, like the reducing tee. The reducing SO flange is not like this.

Reducing flange is a specialty flange that are most often used on projects that require the fitting together of different sized pipes. A reducing flange consists of a flange with one specified diameter having a bore of a different and smaller diameter. Except for the bore and hub dimensions, the flange will have dimensions of the larger pipe size.

 It can be found by comparing the size values with standard SO flange, For 10″x8″ reducer SO flange, the inner diameter of the bore is the size of the 8″ SO flange, and the outer diameter of the Hub is the size of the 10″ SO flange, which means “reducer”.
