How to test the performance of flanges
Flanges can connect different pipe fittings. In addition to the data analysis of flange,we should also analyze the performance of pipe fittings. There are usually four experimental methods to analyze the performance of flanges.
Firstly, tension test; by stretching the samples on the tensile testing machine, we can obtain the corresponding results.
Secondly, the yield point(yielding strength) test; the sample is lengthened under the position force of the stretcher. At the beginning, the elongation of the tube is directly proportional to the tensile force. When the tension is cancelled, the sample still shrinks to its original size. This deformation is called elastic deformation.
Thirdly, bending test(bend the sample in hot or cold state). Bend the stainless steel flange to 90 or 120 degrees to check steel’s ability to withstand bending. Different pipe fittings have different requirements for bending angle and bending diameter.
Fourthly, impact test (to measure the toughness or impact toughness of steel. Through such a series of tests, we can check out what quality problems occur in the production process of pipe fittings, so as to avoid them in the future operation as far as possible, which will guarantee reliable quality.
The analysis of the performance of pipe fittings connected by flanges is helpful for the correct selection of suitable materials.
