Notes for buying carbon steel flanges

A carbon steel flange with a neck that is butt welded to the pipe,we call this flange-carbon steel butt weld flange.It is a pair of disk shaped parts,is the most common type of flange in pipe work,mainly used for pipe connections.Seal the two flanges and tighten them with screws during installation.Flanges of different pressure have different thickness and use different screws.

The heat resistant property of the carbon steel flange is indicated as follows:

1. High impact resistance – the impact strength of carbon steel flanges is obviously improved compared with other flanges.

2. The storage time of carbon steel flanges is relatively long.- Anti-ULTRAVIOLET, anti-radiation, anti-fading, can be stored for more than 50 years.

3. Carbon steel flange has good corrosion resistance.-Apart from a small amount of hydrogenation agent, they can withstand a variety of chemical media corrosion.The flange has excellent acid, alkali and corrosion resistance.

4. The heat transfer coefficient of carbon steel flanges at room temperature is 46.5 W/mK.

Carbon steel flange joints shall be kept on the same axis and the center deviation of the screw hole shall not exceed 5% of the hole diameter.The joint screws of carbon steel flange should have the same specifications, the same installation direction, screw should be evenly distributed when tightening.A diagonal washer with unequal thickness cannot be used to remedy the unfairness of the carbon steel flange, neither can the double washers. When large diameter gaskets are required to be spliced together, they cannot be welded flat, but can be beveled or processed by other methods.To facilitate the installation and removal of the carbon steel flange and fastening screws, the minimum distance between the carbon steel flange and the wall shall not be less than 200mm. These screws should be tightened crosswise and in turn.

Some unscrupulous manufacturers will reduce the flange thickness and outside diameter, in order to save material.They also use side Angle steel to process flanges whose chemical composition and mechanical properties are definitely not up to standard and cannot guarantee their performance or even properly connect the pipes.Poor quality steel can also cause leaks.Therefore, when buying flanges, it is best to select carbon steel flanges from regular suppliers.
